An eight-sided font in solid red oak, with a swivel cover carried on a pivot and a carved cross standing on top. The cover does not lift off. It turns aside and stays attached, so during a service there is nothing to set down and nothing to knock over.
Underneath is a stainless steel bowl, recessed into the top and fully removable. Fill it at the tap, carry it to the font, and take it away to empty. No plumbing, no drain, and no fixed position in the chancel.

This is the detail worth understanding before you compare fonts. A lift-off cap has to go somewhere while the font is in use, and during a baptism the minister's hands are already occupied. A swivel cover rotates clear on its pivot with one hand and remains part of the font throughout.
It also means the cover cannot be mislaid between services, which over the life of the piece matters more than it sounds.
The font stands 38" high to the bowl and measures 18" across the diagonal, weighing 75 lbs. The eight-sided plan is why it works in tight chancels: there is no square corner to catch a passing robe, and it reads the same from every approach, so it can stand free at the head of an aisle rather than being pushed back against a wall.
It ships by freight truck rather than parcel. The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment, so plan on someone being there to receive it. Two people can carry it into position.
Each one is built to order, so allow approximately 10 weeks from the date you order. For the same reason it cannot be cancelled or returned once it is in production.
Light Oak #35, Medium Oak #43, and Dark Coffee #37 carry no additional charge. Twelve further colors are available for an upcharge, including 711 Pecan, 128 Chestnut, 147 Tamarack, and 235 Black Pine.
A font nearly always has to sit alongside furniture you already own, so this is the piece where matching matters most. Ask us for stain samples before you order. They are free, they arrive in a few days, and wood takes stain differently from piece to piece, a screen will not tell you what you need to know.

If you are ordering more than one piece, order them together. That is the only reliable way to get everything stained in the same production run, and on oak the difference between runs is visible across a chancel.

This item ships on a pallet and is delivered curbside to a commercial address. If the address has a loading dock, tell us at checkout and the carrier delivers dock to dock; without one, the driver uses a liftgate and you bring the piece inside.
Inspect the crate before signing, and note any damage on the delivery receipt.

Covered against defects in materials and workmanship for 1 year from the date of purchase. If a problem turns up, email sales@podiumsdirect.com with your order number and a photo and we'll arrange repair or replacement. Normal wear, misuse, and alterations made after delivery aren't covered. Freight damage is handled separately: note it on the delivery receipt and contact us within 24 hours of delivery.
