Baptismal Font: Solid Oak with Removable Bowl [TBF-100]

Closed, the TBF-100 reads as a cross-topped oak pedestal—a piece of chancel furniture that belongs in the sanctuary whether or not there is a baptism that week. Lift the cap off and it is a working font, with a stainless steel bowl set into the top.

The bowl lifts out. Fill it at the tap, carry it to the font, and take it away to empty afterwards. There is no plumbing to install and nothing permanent to commit to, which is what makes this practical for a church that baptizes a few times a year rather than every week.

THE LID AND THE BOWL

Most of what distinguishes this font is what happens when it is not in use. The tiered cap sits over the bowl and carries a standing cross, so between baptisms the font presents as a covered pedestal rather than an open basin collecting dust.

The stainless bowl is not fixed. It lifts straight out for filling, emptying, and cleaning, which means no drain, no supply line, and no reason to involve a plumber in where the font stands. If you want to move it to the front for a service and back against the wall afterwards, you can.

WILL IT FIT YOUR CHANCEL?

Overall dimensions are 14"W x 14"D x 38"H, and it weighs 60 lbs. The 14" square footprint is genuinely small—it will stand at the head of an aisle or beside the communion table without competing with either—and 38" puts the bowl at a comfortable working height for a minister.

At 60 lbs it still ships by freight truck rather than parcel. The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment, so plan on someone being there to receive it. Two people can carry it into place from there.

Each one is built to order, so allow approximately 10 weeks from the date you order. For the same reason it cannot be cancelled or returned once it is in production.

CHOOSING A STAIN

Light Oak #35, Medium Oak #43, and Dark Coffee #37 carry no additional charge. Twelve further colors are available for an upcharge, including 711 Pecan, 128 Chestnut, 147 Tamarack, and 235 Black Pine.

A font almost always has to sit alongside furniture you already own, so this is the piece where matching matters most. Ask us for stain samples before you order. They are free, they arrive in a few days, and wood takes stain differently from piece to piece—a screen will not tell you what you need to know.
