Three questions settle most decisions: what it should be made of, how it should look beside what you already have, and how big it needs to be for your sanctuary.
Wood, wood-with-acrylic, or glass
Solid hardwood
The most substantial presence in the room, and the easiest to match to pews and existing millwork because you pick the stain. Hides cabling and shelving well.
Best when the sanctuary is traditional and the pulpit should read as permanent furniture.Wood with acrylic
A wood frame with an acrylic front panel. Keeps the warmth and stain-matching of wood while letting light and sightlines through, so it feels lighter in a smaller room.
Best when you want wood tones without a solid visual block at the front.Glass or acrylic
The most open option—the congregation sees the speaker, not the furniture. Etched logos sit beautifully on glass, and most models still use a stained wood base.
Best for contemporary sanctuaries, and for churches that livestream.Traditional or contemporary
Traditional sanctuaries usually call for tiered or columned hardwood—pieces like the TSP-620 or the four-column 810—ideally stained to match the pews rather than the floor. Contemporary rooms tend to suit glass or acrylic on a slim base, which keeps the platform visually uncluttered. If your room is a mix, a wood-with-acrylic piece such as the 702 Proclaimer bridges the two.
If you’re unsure about a stain, we can send you free samples—screens render wood colors unreliably, and different species take the same stain differently. Plenty of churches are happy to order straight from the photos, so it’s entirely up to you.

The speaker
The reading surface should sit comfortably for whoever preaches most often. If several people share the pulpit and their heights differ noticeably, look at our height-adjustable pulpits.
The room
Check sightlines from the back row and the balcony, not just the front. A pulpit that looks right up close can disappear at the back of a long sanctuary, or overwhelm a small one.
The platform
Measure usable platform depth first. Pedestal bases take less floor than winged or four-column pieces, which matters when the platform also holds a communion table and chairs.

Questions churches ask us
How long will our pulpit take to arrive?
Custom made-to-order sanctuary furniture is typically 14 weeks from receipt of order. Some in-stock items ship in about 3–14 days. Each product page lists the lead time for that specific piece, and lead times are subject to change without notice due to production schedules.
If you are working toward a dedication, anniversary, or Easter or Christmas service, tell us the date when you ask for a quote and we will tell you honestly whether it is achievable.
How does freight delivery work?
Sanctuary furniture ships by LTL freight, not parcel. We email you the carrier name and phone number, the tracking or PRO number, and freight receiving instructions. The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment, so someone from the church needs to be available to meet the truck and help bring the crate inside.
Freight delivers curbside by default. If your building has no dock and no one able to lift a heavy crate, ask us about liftgate service when you order rather than on delivery day.
Please inspect the crate and contents on arrival, note any damage on the delivery receipt before signing, and tell us within 24 hours if anything is wrong. That note is what lets us make a claim on your behalf.
Can we finance a purchase?
Yes. We partner with Hampton Ridge Financial, who specialize in equipment leasing and financing for churches. Terms run from 24 to 60 months, and you can estimate a monthly payment on their site before speaking to anyone. Approval and final terms are set by Hampton Ridge, not by us.

How do churches usually pay, and can you work with our board?
Most of our church orders start as a written quote that a pastor takes to a board, committee, or congregational vote. Tell us the piece and the options you want and we will send a formal quote you can present. Quotes are good for 30 days and we will re-issue if your meeting runs long.
We accept all major credit and debit cards and e-check payments, and we do not charge credit card fees. Churches purchasing tax free can send a tax exemption certificate with the order. See a better price elsewhere? Contact us and we will try to match or beat it.
Can you put our church logo or name on the pulpit?
Yes. Depending on the model, your logo can be etched into glass, applied as a vinyl or acrylic plaque, or mounted on hidden magnets so it can be swapped later. Communion tables are commonly inscribed with the standard scripture or wording of your choosing.
Send artwork as a vector file—.ai, .eps, .svg, or a vector .pdf. If you can’t produce a vector file, get in touch with us and we may be able to help.
You will see a proof for approval before anything is cut or etched.
Can we see the stain color before we commit?
If you’d like to, yes. We send free stain samples for custom made-to-order pieces—just give us the contact name and shipping address, and they usually arrive within 2–5 days.
Most churches are comfortable ordering from the photos on the product page. Samples are worth asking for mainly if you’re trying to match existing pews or chancel furniture closely, since screens show wood colors unreliably.
Can we return it if it is not right?
Custom made-to-order pieces are built specifically for your church and cannot be cancelled or returned once in production, so we would rather spend the time up front making sure the choice is right. Do you ship outside the lower 48?
Not at this time. Podiums Direct LLC ships within the lower 48 United States and does not currently ship internationally.
