Extra-Large Hardwood Lectern: Presidential Plus [PRES900]

This is the big one. The work surface measures 21.75"W x 19.5"D, which is roughly 40% more desk than a standard hardwood lectern gives you, and it is the reason people choose the Presidential Plus over its smaller sibling. An open binder, a laptop, and a glass of water all fit at once without anything balanced on the edge.

The surface does two other things. It drops from angled to flat, so a manuscript reads at a comfortable rake and a laptop sits level. And it lifts, opening into storage underneath, with a full-depth shelf below that.

WILL IT FIT YOUR ROOM?

The footprint is 30.75"W x 25.75"D and it weighs 200 lbs. This is a substantial piece and it is meant to read that way from the back of a large room.

It stands 50.5" high, and that is worth pausing on. Most lecterns run 44" to 48". The extra height suits a taller speaker and gives the lectern real presence on a stage, but if the people using it vary much in height, or if anyone speaking is on the shorter side, this is the wrong one. It ships by freight truck in a custom crate. The carrier calls ahead to schedule a delivery appointment, so plan on someone being there to receive it and two people to move it into position. The casters handle it from there.

Lead time is approximately 6 to 8 weeks.

WOOD, FINISH, AND FABRIC

Four species with fourteen finishes between them: oak in natural, early American, dark walnut, or ebony; cherry in natural, red mahogany, dark walnut, or ebony; mahogany in natural, sedona red, English chestnut, or red mahogany; and walnut in natural or dark walnut. The fabric on the top section comes in black, blue, or red.

The body is plain by design, with recessed panels and a tapered column rather than carving, so the wood itself does the work. On a figured species like walnut that is the whole effect.
