What is the difference between a Pulpit, Podium, and Lectern
Pulpits vs Podium vs Lectern
These terms are often used interchangeably, but here are the real definitions and differences between pulpits, podiums, and lecterns.
Pulpit: A raised, enclosed structure from which a sermon is delivered or service is conducted. Think about what you'd see in a church or cathedral.

Podium: A low platform or stage that increases visibility of a person or item. It's often used for speeches, but also consider uses such as the runway at fashion shows or where winners stand at the Olympics. A podium gives the person improved visibility and/or vocal project.

Lectern: A stand with a slanted top which a speaker stands behind to deliver a speech.
A lectern can be a freestanding floor model, height adjustable, with or without a sound system, or a tabletop model.

Pulpit: A raised structure you step into.
Podium: A low platform you stand on.
Lectern: A structure you stand behind.
These are the traditional definitions of the words, but the terms are used interchangeably.
